Terms of Service

safeforme is not medical advice. It is a personal allergen checker that shows whether ingredients we detect match the allergen profile you have configured. It is not a diagnostic tool, not a substitute for reading product labels, and not a substitute for a healthcare professional. If you have a serious allergy, intolerance, or any medical concern, talk to a qualified doctor.
1. Acceptance of terms
By installing the safeforme mobile app or using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the service. You must be old enough to consent to data processing in your country (typically 13 or 16 in the EU). If you are using the app on behalf of someone else (e.g. a child or a family profile you manage), you confirm you have the authority to do so.
2. What the service is
safeforme is a personal-project app that helps you check products against an allergen profile you build yourself. You can:
- Scan a label — photograph it and we extract the ingredient list.
- Paste or share a product link — we read the listing and extract the ingredients.
- Browse e-shops inside the app — a live badge checks each product page against your profile while you shop.
- Save products to your safe library — we watch community formulation data and alert you when a saved product's ingredients change and the change touches your profile.
- Keep a skin diary — log reactions and see which recently scanned ingredients keep appearing before them.
- Turn on special modes — extra flags for life stages such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, or baby & kids' skin.
We do not tell you a product is "safe" or "unsafe". We surface matches against your profile — the decision about what to do with that information is yours.
3. What the service is not
- Not medical advice. Nothing the app shows — including results, special-mode flags, and skin-diary patterns — is a diagnosis, treatment, or recommendation. Always consult a healthcare professional for medical decisions.
- Not a guarantee. Text extraction can fail. Labels and product pages can be wrong, outdated, or missing information. Manufacturers can change recipes overnight. Always read the physical label yourself.
- Not a regulatory tool. We are not affiliated with food-safety regulators, allergen-certification bodies, product manufacturers, or the shops you browse.
4. Accuracy disclaimer
Our matching engine is intentionally conservative — we'd rather flag a possible match and let you decide than miss one. Even so, it is not infallible:
- Text extraction may misread blurry photos, small print, or handwriting.
- Ingredient lists are sometimes incomplete, translated, or written in trade names we don't recognize.
- Ingredients read from a product page or web listing describe the listing, not necessarily the unit on the shelf — formulas drift, so scan the real packaging to be sure.
- Community reads and the shopping badge reflect what other users scanned of that product, which may be older or a different variant than the one in front of you. The badge is an advisory overlay, not a verdict.
- Cross-contamination and "may contain" disclosures are outside the scope of what we can reliably detect.
- New allergens, new ingredients, and reformulations happen constantly. Reformulation alerts depend on community scans and may be late or missing — they don't replace checking the label.
You are responsible for the final call on whether to consume or use a product. If anything is unclear, don't rely on the app — read the label, contact the manufacturer, or ask your doctor.
5. Your responsibilities
When you use safeforme, you agree to:
- Keep your allergen profile accurate and up to date.
- Use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes.
- Not abuse the service — no scraping, automated mass scanning or browsing, attempts to reverse engineer the backend, deliberate submission of false ingredient data, or anything that disrupts service for others.
- Not upload photos that don't belong to you, contain other people's private information, or violate anyone's rights.
- Respect the terms of the shops and websites you visit through the in-app browser, and applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
6. Premium, trials and billing
- safeforme has a free tier with usage limits (shown in the app) and an optional Premium subscription (monthly or annual).
- Purchases are made through your Apple App Store account. Apple processes the payment — we never see your card details. Our subscription processor (RevenueCat) only tells us whether your subscription is active.
- Where a free trial is offered (currently 7 days), the subscription starts automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before.
- Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. You can cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings; access continues until the end of the paid period.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies. EU consumers keep their statutory rights.
- We may change prices or what each tier includes; changes apply from the next billing period and material changes will be announced in advance.
7. Third-party shops and websites
The in-app browser displays third-party e-shops and websites. Their content, prices, availability, and terms belong to their operators — we do not control them, and showing a shop or product is not an endorsement, sponsorship, or partnership. The safeforme badge is our own overlay rendered on top of the page; we do not alter the page itself. Any purchase you make happens directly between you and the shop, under the shop's terms.
8. Community contributions
Scans contribute product-level formulation data (product ↔ detected ingredients) to a shared catalog that powers community reads, freshness signals, and reformulation alerts for everyone. This data is about products, not about you, and is not shown to other users with your identity. By using the service you grant us the right to keep this product-level data in the catalog, as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Intellectual property
- The safeforme name, logo, mascot, UI design, and source code belong to us.
- You retain ownership of the photos you upload and the profile data you configure. By using the service you give us a limited licence to process them as described in the Privacy Policy — just enough to run the checks, deliver the matches, and keep your account working.
- Ingredient names, brand names, shop names, and product information referenced in the app belong to their respective owners. Product images may be replaced by AI-generated illustrations — these are stylized representations, so always verify the actual product (e.g. by its barcode).
10. Account and termination
- safeforme requires an account (email, or Sign in with Apple / Google) so your profile and scans can sync.
- You can delete your account at any time directly in the app, or by emailing privacy@safeforme.app.
- We may suspend or terminate access if you abuse the service, violate these terms, or do something that endangers other users or our infrastructure.
- After termination, the data-retention rules in the Privacy Policy apply.
11. Service changes and availability
This is a personal project. We may change, pause, or shut down features at any time. We will try to give reasonable notice for material changes, but we do not promise uptime, backwards compatibility, or that the service will exist forever.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence within the EU still apply where relevant.
Any dispute that we can't sort out by email should be brought before the competent courts of the Slovak Republic. EU consumers can also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.
13. Changes to these terms
We will update this page when the terms change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. If the change is material, we will announce it in the app and — where you have an account — by email. Continued use of the service after the new terms take effect means you accept them.
